Prior to becoming a dentist, he spent seven years in the dental field working in private practice as well as in the military as a dental assistant, a patient care coordinator, and a hygienist. He is fully committed to everything he does. Aside from being a full-time dentist, he is very involved in his church as well as his children’s school and extracurricular activities. Throughout the busy years in college and dental school, his dedication to volunteering never went on the wayside. He participated in the Mission of Mercy Projects that helped the underserved population of Virginia, not just by performing dentistry but also by contributing to its organization.
Dr. Sheppard resides in Midlothian with his wife Sharon, their two young children, Jacob age 13, and Sabrina age 8, and their dogs Mocha, Griffin, and Trixie. When he is not working, he likes spending time outdoors with his family. He also enjoys woodworking, music, birding, and making cakes. He is looking forward to meeting each and every one of you!

Dr. Genevieve DeVera Biography
Dr. Genevieve DeVera was born in the Philippines and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. She attended the University of Virginia, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology in 1994. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1998 and graduated with honors. After graduating, Dr. DeVera became a clinical instructor at the General Practice and Emergency Departments of the dental school. She then pursued postdoctoral training in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry.

Dr. Jacob Sheppard Biography
Dr. Sheppard grew up in Northern Virginia and worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He also had a small handyman business and worked as a home inspector on the side. While juggling three jobs and raising his young family, he decided to pursue his dream since he was eight years old and relocated his family to Richmond to study to become a dentist. Dr. Sheppard completed his undergraduate studies at Virginia Commonwealth University where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the VCU Medical College of Virginia. While in dental school he served as Class President and was recognized for excellence in implant dentistry by the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
